I live at the end of the block using middle of the Grande Vista. We still have no power and believe it or not the power on this line is the exact last service address is 3260 Grande Vista. There was FiOS added to this line a while back and they had to make a special Late night 7 p.m. installation When it was first installed. This address is special As it relates to utility lines and service poles I bet you they have to rewire the whole thing. I bet you we won't get our power till the end of today. I watched your video. A very specific quote "Fighting for the little guy" begs your attention from me.

I did not make many "friends" among our classmates. I was a geek/nerd in the making but I did not nor do I currently wear glasses.

The comments posted from Sarah Thomson are also very real. At the time [ early 80s ] my family and most others could not afford a microcomputer.

You know what I did? I spent many a day in both my junior and senior years playing hookie from school. Actually between my Junior and Senior year I attended "Computers 101" at Valley College.

Where did I go to play hookie?

I went down to the public library in the off-peak hours to use their one of three Apple ][ computers.

During these grades I also went up to Arrowview Jr. High to help at the lab there. I craved the computer time access to learn some of the skills that would drive the rest of my life --- a mission of sorts.

In the volunteer hours after graduation [ sept/1983 ], I continued working with Norma Lambson at the downtown branch of the public library. All of this being SELF-TAUGHT without my own machine at home to assist me in that learning curve.

What I did for the library was the creation of Microlink BBS. Now from 2009 looking backwards, you might not know what a BBS was.

The San Bernardino public library was only the 2nd city library to offer home dial-up access to library services next to the Chicago public library.

Once this project was done, I started to work there part-time @ library page scale. Another programming project that I personally, from scratch, programmed was the "desk manager" that operated the new lab when the library moved from Arrowhead/4th street to the New Location on 5th.

That was in 1984. I left the area in 1987 to move up to the San Francisco Bay Area. All along, both Microlink BBS and the Desk Manager continued to operate. The desk manager, with the assistance of then Lab assistant Kip Anderson, continued to till way past Y2K providing a valuable tool in the more than 15 years of assistance to the advancement of computer literacy for the San Bernardino public community.

Mr Prince, did you ever go use the computers down at the "Cosand Computer Center"? When you walked up and logged in to reserve your time.... That was my original programmed software that ran the lab.
